How to Disable Anonymous FTP on TeraStation Live/Pro/ProII

Created 06/21/2012 16:12  |   Updated 06/21/2012 16:58

To disable anonymous FTP access on the TeraStation NAS, create a local user using the name 'anonymous'.
This will prompt the user for a username and password. This is also helpful for users who do not want to embed the username and password in the URL (
ftp://username:password@172.27.69.110)

  • User Management->Add user
  • User name = anonymous
  • Password = anything will work
  • User Description is not relevant

Note: Another workaround for not embedding the username and password in the URL is to implement only the username and not the password: ( ftp://username@172.27.69.110 )
This will prompt users for the password.
