Client for Microsoft Networks is installed but is not configured by default.
- Go to [Control Panel] > [Network and Internet] > [Network Connections].
- Right-click on the adapter being used and choose Properties.
- Go to the Properties of Client for Microsoft Networks and set the Name Service Provider to Windows Locator.
- It defaults to nothing in Vista, meaning no local name resolution.
