LinkStation GUI sees "device" when DriveStation is attached, but not in format menu

LinkStation Web UI sees "Buffalo storage device" when DriveStation is attached, but in format menu, the only one listed is the internal disk.
This is caused by auto/manual switch on the DriveStation or LinkStation firmware is not latest version.
Please check the following steps.

Ensure that the power switch on the DriveStation is set to the manual position and plugged into the USB port on the LinkStation.

Turn off the LinkStation and DriveStation. Turn on the DriveStation, then the LinkStation.

| 3. |
Check if a new firmware for the LinkStation is available. You may update the firmware.

| 4. |
Power cycle both units.
