In order to use ftp from a remote location, users will need to forward ports 20 and 21 (or 8021 if using anonymous ftp) to the internal IP address of the TeraStation from the users router.
Also, the TeraStation needs to have the correct Default Gateway information.
From the TeraStation Web Setup:
- Navigate to [Network]-[IP Address Properties].
- Make sure that the internal IP address of the router is entered next to Default Gateway.
- After applying, users should be able to access the Terastation's ftp shares from a remote location by typing "ftp://ipaddress/" (where "ipaddress" is the external IP address of the users router) into a web browser.
Use "ftp://ipadress:8021/" if using anonymous ftp.
